For solo percussion, includes score. This is a spectacular 'tour de force' for the serious percussionist. The work integrates music and theatre into a whole that visually entertains as well as seduces the listener into the composer's world of sound and color. Found objects, along with traditional instruments are carefully notated, as are changes in dramatic character and other stage directions. Duration: ca. 15'.

Review from Percussive Arts Society:
Due Process
Erik Lund
This work requires the solo percussionist to perform intricate rhythms while navigating an abundance of instruments. Traditional percussion instruments are combined with repurposed instruments such as party-style noise makers, a judge’s gavel, and a door knocker (mounted to a door). “Found objects” composed of wood, metal, and glass are also required.
The piece is comprised of 11 sections that range from meditative to energetic. Some sections are to be played note-for-note, while others require improvisation. The percussionist is required to be theatrical at times. During one section, the soloist is instructed to march in a “changing of the guard fashion,” while another section requires the stroke to be made with a slow-motion-style arc. The “Celebration” section directs the performer to pick up noisemakers and “work the crowd a bit.”
While there are theatrics involved, the soloist must also be able to perform intricate rhythms in a number of time signatures. The rhythmic complexity combined with the navigation of instruments provides the actual challenge.—Jeff W. Johnson, 2020
