Brink, Phillip
Philip Brink received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theory and Composition from Northwestern University and has studied trombone with some of the most noted teachers of trombone in America. Following his university career he traveled to Chile for the US Peace Corps, teaching music and playing in early music groups. Thus began a life with a great deal of travel: he has taught and/or played in South America, Alaska, Canada, all parts of the US, Hong Kong and most recently Thailand, where he worked at the Mahidol University College of Music as trombone instructor and low brass principal in the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. Before his assignment to Thailand he returned to Chicago in the summer of 2000. While living and working there he played in many regional orchestras and dance bands. Over the span of his performing and teaching career he has played with symphony orchestras in Chile, Aspen, Calgary, Seattle, Albuquerque, Hong Kong and Thailand. He has retired from Thailand and now lives in upstate New York and is learning a totally new part of the country. |
