Prado, Ethan
Ethan James Prado (b. 2000) is a Filipino American composer from Lombard, IL. He has had works performed by ensembles such as the Dallas Asian Winds, Wheaton Municipal Band, neoPhonia New Music Ensemble, Rainbow City Concert Band, Illinois Modern Ensemble, and the Queer Big Apple Corps. Additionally, his pieces have been selected for conferences including the 2023&4 CMS Great Lakes Chapter Conferences and the 2023 SCI Region VIII Conference. He was also an honorable mention in the Reno Pops Orchestra’s 2023 Composer’s Showcase, a selectee in Dr. James Brinkmann’s “What If…” Call for Scores, a finalist in the ASCAP Foundation 2022 Morton Gould Young Composer Awards Competition, and was a selectee in the NYC Contemporary Music Symposium's 2022 Percussion Composition Competition. He graduated with Bachelor's degrees in Composition-Theory and Percussion Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His composition professors included Reynold Tharp, Sever Tipei, Stephen Taylor, and Carlos Carrillo. As for percussion, he studied under William Moersch and Ricardo Flores. Ethan has performed with the top ensembles of UIUC, including its Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Illinois Modern Ensemble, Steel Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Ethan is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Composition and is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Illinois State University. In his spare time, Ethan enjoys strength training, hiking, foraging, and cooking.
