Steg, Paul

Paul Steg was born 24 August 1919 in Greenleaf, Kansas, U.S.A. He studied music at the University of Wichita (M.M>) and Boston University (D.M.A.1961). His composition teachers included Gardner Read. His list of compositions is extensive and includes works for symphony orchestra, wind ensembles and chamber groups. His solo study for percussion "Targets" involves music theater and is popular with players world-wide. He served on the faculty of Northern Illinois University for many years. Steg died 14 June 1995.
