For chamber orchestra, includes score and parts. W. C. Handy once said, " The blues came from the man farthest down. The blues came from nothingness, from want, from desire." Red, White and Black Blues by Morgan Powell are not 'blues' in the traditional sense, but are inspired by the "man farthest down." The work was commissioned by the Cleveland Chamber Symphony and premiered by the orchestra on the 21st of September 1992 in Cleveland, Ohio, Edwin London, conducting. Duration: ca. 15' 30"
