Review from Percussive Notes:

Jack McKenzie – Paths II

“Paths II” is an exquisitely detailed graphic score. Written in 1970 but just recently published, its colorful, circle score offers the performer an opportunity to create a solo of variable duration. Jack McKenzie has managed to fit a large amount of musical direction onto a single page. There are 32 groupings. Within each grouping there is a duration, and the number of “vibrations” or strokes, bowings, scrapes, etc. on each instrument. The dynamic is indicated by the size of the grouping, and arrows indicate possible paths to take into the next set of groupings. The choice of sticks, mallets, fingers, and other implements is left up to the performer. The work can be mimed or prerecorded as well as performed in the normal fashion. I would highly recommend Jack McKenzie’s “Paths II” for someone who is interested in graphic scores and comfortable making crucial musical decisions. It would be perfect for any contemporary music situation.
